Public Wireless - Windstorm
TSTC Harlingen provides wireless internet access with its "Public Wireless" service. There are two methods of accessing the public wireless service. Method 1 provides internet access only, while method 2 provides both internet and internal network resources access (department servers).

Method 1 - Internet Only
  1. Open your wireless utilities program (the one where you check for available wireless networks).
  2. Select the "Windstorm" network and click Connect.
  3. Once connected, open up your internet browser (IE, Firefox, etc.)
  4. You will be redirected to our network authentication page that will be asking for a username and password.

    NOTE: You may see a yellow bar at the top of the screen asking you to run an ActiveX control. If this happens, right-click on the yellow bar and select "Run ActiveX Control". Also depending on the Security Levels set in Windows on your computer you may or may not get a Security Warning pop-up requesting to run a program labeled “objAppletClient”. Make sure to run it.
  5. Click on the "Internet Only" button and you are finished. No other steps are required.
Method 2 - Internet and Internal Network Resources Access (department servers).
  1. Open your wireless utilities program (the one where you check for available wireless networks).
  2. Select the "Windstorm" network and click Connect.
  3. Once connected, open up your internet browser (IE, Firefox, etc.)
  4. You will be redirected to our network authentication page that will be asking for a username and password.

    NOTE: You may see a yellow bar at the top of the screen asking you to run an ActiveX control. If this happens, right-click on the yellow bar and select "Run ActiveX Control". Also depending on the Security Levels set in Windows on your computer you may or may not get a Security Warning pop-up requesting to run a program labeled “objAppletClient”. Make sure to run it.

  5. If you DO NOT need access to internal network resources, such as department servers, simply click on the "Internet Only" button and you are finished. No other steps are required. Otherwise continue with step 6.
  6. Under username, enter "tstcwireless". Under password, enter "iagree". Press the continue button.
  7. You will see the Network Security Notice. Read it carefully. Click on the "Download Clean Access Agent 4.1.2.0" button.
  8. Select Run at the popup window. (NOTE: Once again, a yellow bar may pop up at the top of the page. If so, right-click and select "Allow". Click Run at the popup window.)
  9. he setup file will now run. Click "Next" to continue.
  10. Click "Next" again.
  11. Click "Install" to begin installation.
  12. Click "Finish" when setup is complete. You will now see the Cisco Clean Access Agent screen appear.
  13. Once again the username is "tstcwireless" and the password is "iagree". The authentication provider should be set to "Local DB".
  14. You may be prompted to upgrade the version of the Cisco Clean Access Agent. If so, click Yes at the popup. After completion you will be prompted to enter the username and password once again.
  15. Minimum requirements must be met before a successful login. If NOT, a “Temporary Access” screen displays and you will be given 15 minutes to download and install a current antivirus software and/or update your Windows operating system via Windows update. Click "Next" to find out the missing required software. (It will either state "AV_INSTALL" or "Windows Updates")
  16. If you need Windows Updates, click on Start-->Programs-->Windows Update. This will take you to the Windows Update site. Click "Express" to download high-priority updates.
  17. (NOTE: This process may take longer than the allowed 15 minutes, if so, simply log back into the Cisco Clean Access Agent and continue the updates.)
  18. If you need to install AVG, go to http://free.grisoft.com and download the latest AVG Free Edition version. Follow the onscreen instructions to setup.
  19. Once all requirements are met, the Clean Access Agent box will notify you of a successful login and minimize automatically.
