This document will help you get started using TSTC web services if you are a new student. You will find that many of our on-line services can be accessed using the same username and password. This is often referred to as your “WebAdvisor” username and password. You will find your username on the invoice you are given when you pay for classes. In most cases, it is your first initial, middle initial, last name, and a number (e.g. John Q. Smith – jqsmith123).

If you have never used any of the web services before, your temporary password will be the last 6 digits of your StudentID number.

1. To change your temporary password, go to WebAdvisor and login at https://webadvisor.tstc.edu/servlet/com.datatel.server.servlets.webadvisor.WebAdvisor?ACTION=Login.

2. Once you login with your WebAdvisor username and default password, you will be asked to change your password.

When creating a new password, there a few rules to keep in mind:

• Your password must contain at least 6 characters.
• Your password must not exceed 9 characters.
• Your password must contain at least 1 number.

Now that you have changed you default WebAdvisor password, proceed to the next step.

3. Go to the Self-Service Password Utility at https://sspu.tstc.edu to set up your challenge questions.

Once you have reached the SSPU page, login with your WebAdvisor username and your new password. You will then be asked to provide answers to 4 challenge questions before proceeding. Answer the Challenge questions and click “Submit.”

Try to make your password something simple enough for you to remember but difficult for others to guess. After you have changed your password, click on the “Hint Setup” link to setup a password hint.

Now that you have setup your Challenge questions and password hint, you can use the Self-Service Password Utility (SSPU) to give a hint or reset your password in the event you forget it, anytime, day or night.

4. You will use your WebAdvisor username and password you set up in the SSPU to log into MyTSTC Web Portal (https://my.tstc.edu).

Once you log into the portal, access your student e-mail account to change your default password. Select the 5th tab from the left – WebMail.

The login name is the same as your WebAdvisor login name. The default password is your seven digit student ID number.You may change the password or leave it the same.

5. Stay logged into my.tstc.edu to access your mylearning.tstc.edu account. Select 3rd tab from the left – Learning Resources. You will see the list of your courses.

If your are a returing student, confirm your WebAdvisor login name and password.

If you forgot your login name, select "What’s my login name?"

If you forget your password, select "Reset password." A new password will be sent to your TSTC.net email address.

If your username and password are ok, go to step 2.
